In Hyderabad, Telangana, India, the 100 TONN.KZ team completed the installation and alignment of a Soma Midi printing press. The flexographic printing press was manufactured 20 years ago. It had previously been in operation in Europe, had been relocated several times, and had not been used for some time before the project began. Our specialists were tasked with assembling the mechanical section of the machine and preparing it for commissioning.
Task
The project team had to complete:
- mechanical installation of the printing press
- equipment alignment
- preparation of the machine for commissioning
There were also additional challenges:
- There were no visible markings on the components, as they had been painted over.
- Part of the equipment was worn out due to long-term operation.
Solution
The owner of the printing press was responsible for moving the equipment into the production facility. A challenge arose for the owner before installation could begin: the 25-tonne printing unit could only be lifted using designated slinging points, but the customer was unable to find a local contractor with the required rigging equipment.
The 100 TONN.KZ team, which was already on site at the time, proposed an alternative engineering solution. Instead of lifting the printing unit by crane, the equipment was jacked off the pallet, placed onto machinery skates, and moved into the workshop.
After that, our specialists carried out:
- mechanical and electrical installation
- equipment alignment
During assembly, it became clear that many pneumatic components inside the machine were damaged. Some parts were replaced with new ones.
Result
The Soma Midi printing press was assembled and prepared for commissioning. The equipment successfully passed its trial start-up.
